How To Create a VAT Invoice for Amazon UK

This policy applies to UK-based Amazon sellers. UK sellers are legally required to provide either of the following to Amazon Business customers within 24 hours / one business day: A VAT invoice after an order’s been confirmed as dispatched and credit notes for orders confirmed for return.

There are a couple of different ways to do this:

  • Opt-in to Amazon’s free invoicing solution: Create an account through the Amazon VAT Calculation Service and get access to all relevant docs which are automatically generated and available for download.
  • DIY-style on Seller Central: Upload your credit notes and invoices manually via “Manage Orders”
  • Get a third party to take the load: If you’ve got an accredited solution provider with permissions and access to your account data, they’ll use that to automatically generate the docs needed

Note

There’s always the exception: Some UK or EU sellers aren’t required to register for VAT. If that’s you, you’ll need to gather the necessary documentation to declare your VAT exemption status. Once that’s all been cleared, Amazon will issue receipts for you.
