What Is the Difference Between HSIC Code and Business Nature on the BRC?
- Published: 19 January 2026
The HSIC code is a statistical classification used by the government and does not appear on your BRC. The Business Nature on the BRC is a free-text description (up to 60 English characters) submitted to the Business Registration Office. Both should reflect your company’s activities, but do not need to match exactly.
Examples:
- HSIC Code: 46900 – Non-specialised Wholesale Trade | Business Nature: Import and export of general goods
- HSIC Code: 85590 – Other Education Services | Business Nature: Online training and workshops
