What Is Share Capital and When Must It Be Paid?

Share capital is the total value of issued shares and there is no statutory minimum in Hong Kong.
Requirements:
- Hong Kong companies are not required to have a minimum share capital.
- The standard practice is to issue at least one share with paid-up capital of HK$1.00 at incorporation.
Timing of Payment:
- Upon company incorporation.
- During allotment or transfer of shares after incorporation.
- At a fixed or unspecified future date.
- When the company makes a call on shares.
- Upon winding up, to the extent that issued share capital remains unpaid.
