What Is an EORI Number?

  • Modified: 15 April 2026

An Economic Operators Registration and Identification (EORI) number is required if your business moves goods across certain borders:

  • Between Great Britain (England, Scotland, Wales) or the Isle of Man and any other country, including the EU.
  • Between Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
  • Between Great Britain and the Channel Islands.
  • Between Northern Ireland and countries outside the EU.
  • The Cost: £0 (Free via GOV.UK).
  • The Time: It usually takes about 5 to 10 minutes to apply online, and you often receive the number immediately, though it can take up to 5 working days if HMRC needs to perform manual checks.

If you need VAT number linked to EORI number, Osome can help with the registration, the fixed fee is £50 plus VAT.
