The HKIRD may issue enquiry letters to verify the offshore claim.
Typical areas of enquiry:
- Company background: Operations, nature of business, customer/supplier base, and organization chart.
- Transaction details: Contracts, invoices, shipping documents, and correspondence.
- Logistics: Passports/itineraries of key personnel and reasons for establishing a Hong Kong company.
Response:
- You must reply within the stipulated deadline - Usually 1-2 months from the date of issue, but we can try to file an extension for you.
- Multiple rounds of enquiries may occur.
- Documentation must prove profits are not Hong Kong-sourced.
