What Are the Data Protection Officer (DPO) Requirements in Singapore?

  • Published: 12 November 2025

Under the Personal Data Protection Act 2012, every organisation must appoint at least one DPO and make their contact information public.

DPO responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring PDPA compliance;
  • Managing data inquiries and complaints;
  • Promoting a data protection culture;
  • Liaising with the Personal Data Protection Commission (PDPC).

Appointment rules:

  • The DPO can be an internal employee or a third-party provider;
  • Sole directors can act as DPOs if capable;
  • Some operational aspects can be delegated, but overall responsibility remains.

Osome DPO services: Not sold standalone. Assistance is available if we are your appointed Corporate Secretary.
