How Can Osome Assist a DP Holder in Applying for a Dependant Pass Letter of Consent (DP LOC)?

  • Modified: 27 November 2025

Osome prepares and files DP LOC applications and renewals, and advises on eligibility and obligations. A DP LOC is required if a DP holder wants to start a business or act as a company director.

Who Needs a Dependant Pass Letter of Consent (DP LOC)?

DP holders who want to start a business in Singapore or serve as a company director. The LOC enables business and directorship activities, otherwise not permitted on a basic DP.

Requirements for a DP LOC

The applicant must be a sole proprietor, partner, or director holding at least 30% shareholding in an ACRA registered business. No minimum salary is required. Shareholding and company registration are required to qualify.

Additional Obligations for LOC Approval

A local director is required until the LOC is approved. For renewals, the DP holder must employ at least one Singaporean or PR earning S$1,600 per month with CPF contributions for three consecutive months. Osome can provide a Nominee Director while the LOC is pending.

DP LOC Validity

First time LOC is valid up to one year or until the DP expiry, whichever is shorter. Renewals align with DP expiry. This means the renewal should ideally be done after DP has been renewed to secure a LOC with longer validity.

ONE Pass Considerations

Dependent Pass holders under the sponsorship of a ONE Pass can neither be directors or shareholders of any company if they are applying for the LOC under the employee scheme. Standard DP LOC requirements and hiring rules otherwise apply.

We are also unable to apply for DP LOC for ONE Pass holders who are applying through the employee scheme.
